How to Enable & Use New Gmail Offline Mode Feature?
Everyone out there knows very well that processing an email requires an active internet connection. So, if there is no internet connection, you have either limited or no access to the emails. What if you can access Gmail in offline mode also without even an internet connection? Yes, Gmail has added a new feature that let you access emails in offline mode also. This year Gmail has come up with a large number of updates like new security and artificial intelligence feature in it. Along with the completely new look, Gmail has added one brand new exciting feature i.e., Offline Mode. This will permit users to access Gmail emails even without internet connection also. This brand new Gmail Offline is managed in the browser only. It allows users to search, read, label, delete and reply to an email also without an internet connection. As your Gmail is connected again to the internet, all changes get updated automatically to online Gmail. For example, you are somewhere where there is no internet connection and you respond back to a particular email. Your respond is saved in the Outbox and sent automatically as the connection is established again. This new update let users work without any interruption even in offline mode. Now, to avail all such benefits, one needs to enable offline mode in Gmail.
How to Use Gmail Offline Mode Using Simple Steps?
By default, this new Gmail offline is disabled in Gmail. If a user wants to use it, then one needs to enable New Gmail offline mode. Now, to do this in a proper way, follow the steps mentioned below:
- First of all, you have to install Gmail Offline and click on Add to Chrome option
- After that, log in to your Gmail account and click on the Gear button >> Settings
- Then, click on the Offline tab to enable this feature & Know How to Use Gmail Offline Mode
- Now, check the Enable offline mail option in Offline section to enable new Gmail Offline
- In the Sync Settings section, choose store emails from last 90 days option and check the Download attachments option
Note: You can change these settings based on your choice also. For example, uncheck the Download attachment option.
- After that, move to the Security section and choose the desired option. Here, I have selected Keep offline data on my computer option after logging out of my Google account
- Next, you need to click on the Save Changes button
- Now, open a new tab and click on the App Store option to choose Gmail Offline option
- As you click on the Gmail Offline icon, it displays two options i.e., Allow offline mail or Don’t allow offline mail. You can choose any of them and click on the Continue button
- Allow offline mail: This option let you perform action on Gmail in offline mode also, which get updated automatically as the connection is established again.
- Don’t allow offline mail: This option will permit users to only read emails in offline mode. Any changes done in offline mode will not be updated in Gmail when the connection is established again.
- After that, you can easily view, open, and read your Gmail in offline mode
- You can perform multiple actions on it also like edit, search, delete, compose email, etc. like a normal Gmail account.
Note: Keep in mind that new Gmail Offline will display emails only from past 90 days maximum. After that your emails are deleted from Gmail Offline automatically. To access the emails before 90 days, you need to move to Gmail Online and access it from there.
How to Disable Gmail Offline Mode?
Now, if you want to not use this offline service anymore, you have to uninstall this new Gmail Offline first. And for that, follow the steps mentioned below:
Step #1: Delete Your Offline Gmail Data
- First of all, open Google Chrome on the system
- After that, click on the 3-Dots icon for More options. Then, click on the Settings option
- Now, scroll down and click on the Advanced option
- Then, in the Privacy and security section, click on the Content settings
- Next, click on the Cookies
- Now, click on the Remove All option in the All cookies and site data
- At last, click on the Clear all option and confirm the deletion of offline data
Step #2: Disable Gmail Offline Mode
- Open Gmail and go to Settings >> Offline tab
- Here, you need to uncheck the Enable offline mail option
This way, a user can easily know how to use Gmail Offline Mode & disable the offline mode when they do not want to continue it or switch the machine.
However, the new Gmail Offline will maintain only emails from last 90 days so, it becomes difficult for the users to access the emails previous to that in offline mode. Apart from this, sometimes users also want to download Gmail emails to computer and move it anywhere they want.
