SysTools Outlook Attachment Extractor: Here's How it Works

Browse MS Outlook Data (PST/OST) Files

Choose Browse MS Outlook Data (.pst/.ost) Files radio button to add orphans PST/OST files and folders.

Click on the “ Add File(s) or Add Folder(s)” button to browse PST/OST files or folders.

Once the folder has been added, It will be listed on the Software user interface as shown below.

Choose from Attachment Hierarchy Filters

The software comes with four options to choose Folder Hierarchy Filters as:

Maintain Folder Hierarchy :
Extract Outlook attachments maintaining folder hierarchy corresponding to Outlook PST, OST, BAK files.

No Folder Hierarchy :
The software places all extracted Outlook email attachments in one folder at the destination chosen. And No hierarchy maintained.

Create Single Folder Only :
This option will create a single folder to save all the attachments.

Create Folder for Each File Type :
This option create a particular folder for each attachment file type.

Select the Destination Location

Now, to save the extracted attachments shoose the destination loaction and to do that click on the Change button and select the desired destination loaction.

Extract Attachments from Selected Mailbox Items

Tick the checkboxes provided under the "Select Items Type" section to extract multiple attachments from email, contact, calendar, journal, & task.

Note: Users not able to extract attachments from journal while extracting attachments from OLM and OLK files or folder.

Extract Specific Attachments Using Date Filter

If you want to extract attachments from spacific date range, then you can choose " Date Filter". With the help of this option you can add multiple date ranges.

Extract Attachments on the Basis of File Size and Extension

At this stage you will get two options:

• Extract Attachment Up To: This option gives you a facility to choose file size during the extraction process of attachments. You can extract attachment from 1 KB to 100 MB.

• File Type: With the help of this option you can include and exclude file extention during attachment downloading process

Extract Attachments Using Naming Convention

If you want to extract attachments according to specific name, then you can choose below options:

• Naming Convention For Attachment: Choose the naming convention attachment option to extract attachments in specified format from Outlook files.

• Naming Convention For Folder: You can also select naming convention for folder. By default Subject is naming convention for your folder.

After all the settings, click on the"Extract" button to start the extraction process of email attachments from Outlook PST, OST, BAK, MSG, and OLM files.

After clicking on the Extract button you will able to see the extraction process. In fact, you can stop the process in the middle of the task by clicking on the Stop

View Attachments After Extraction

Once the attachment extraction is done, go to the destination location to view all extracted attachments from PST, OST, OLM, BAK, and MSG files.

After Extraction Save CSV Report

The software generates a CSV report for all those attachments extracted from Outlook hierarchy. The report displays, folder path, number of attachments extracted, and other status parameters of all the PST, OST, BAK, MSG, and OLM files that underwent extraction process.

Extract Attachments from MSG File

Choose Browse MS Outlook Messages (.msg) Files radio button to add MSG files and folder.

Click on the “Add Folder(s)” button to browse MSG folders.

Once the folder has been added, It will be listed on the Software user interface as shown below.
