Convert MBOX files of 20+ Email Clients into PST, PDF, EML, MSG, NSF & HTML
Using SysTools MBOX Converter Software

It supports MBOX/MBX/MBS/SBD files of All Origins. To Name a few: Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape, Apple Mail, Eudora, Entourage, Spicebird, The Bat!, Gmail Takeout (*mbox), Google Vault (*mbox), etc.

Important Note: Thunderbird supports two file formats to store its emails – MBOX and Maildir. This software only works with MBOX files to convert Thunderbird data. If your Thunderbird emails are stored in Maildir format, then please use SysTools Maildir converter.

To export Thunderbird Address Book (contacts) along with emails, you can use SysTools MAB Converter along with this MBOX to PST converter. Both these software come as a bundle and can be purchased at a discounted price.

STEP 1

To start with the conversion process, go to Start Menu » Search SysTools MBOX Converter » click & launch the tool.

STEP 2

Click on Add File to add single or multiple .mbox file(s) into the software.

Choose One Option:

STEP 3.1

Select the configured email application and choose the radio button "Default Profile Configured" & click on Next button.

Select the identity to fetch all its database.

Choose the email account associated with the selected profile from the drop-down menu for export.

STEP 3.3

You can also click on "Convert All Identities" option to export all the accounts data from the selected email client. Click on Process button.

You can fetch MBOX files from the location known to you, by selecting the option "Select File/Folder System" Click Next button.

Click on […] button to browse the MBOX Files.

Or use Folder mode to select bulk MBOX files at a time.

Select the folder that contain MBOX files. Click on Ok button.

Click on Process to start the scanning of MBOX emails.

Click on the Folder List to display the complete hierarchy of all the MBOX files added into the software.

In the Mail section, click on any mailbox folder to view its emails along with attachments.

Important Note: Once the file scan completes, if you don't want to view emails and start conversion directly, you can click on the Export button present in the top bar. Directly Jump to Step 10.

As the email load in the Preview window, you can stop the process in between by clicking Stop button.

You can also switch the view mode of the emails, i.e. either as Horizontal or Vertical View as per your convenience.

STEP 9

EXPORT SELECTIVE EMAILS

Mark the checkboxes corresponding to each email that you wish to convert. And right-click to choose the Export button or you can also select the right side Export Button.

For bulk conversion, select the Export button on top of the menu without marking any checkboxes.

Select the option as per your preference:

  • Check all mailboxes to export all the MBOX files at a time.
  • Check particular folders to export only the selected MBOX files.

Choose Export Options

Select the PST radio button and click on Advanced Settings.

You can choose Split PST button to divide the mailboxes into multiple PST files of preferred size.

Use the Mail Status Filter to export only Read, Unread, or Both types of emails, applicable for Thunderbird, NetScape Mail, SeaMonkey, and Spicebird clients.

You can also apply Date Filter to convert emails of a specific time period.

Click Save to save the settings.

You can change the default location to save converted files by clicking Browse button.

Now, Check the Maintain Folder Heirarchy checkbox to maintain the folder order same as in source MBOX file.

This option will only be visible when you browse multiple MBOX files in the software.
Check "Create single PST for all MBOX" if you want to merge all the selected MBOX files into one single PST file. Otherwise, a PST file will be generated corresponding to each selected MBOX file.

Next, click the Export button to start the conversion process.

As the export process begins, you will get the following window, showing the details as displayed in the image below.

Export process is completed successfully. Click OK.

You can directly access the converted file by clicking Open Location

Also you can view the Export Report (HTML file) that contains the entire conversion report for future reference.

Thus, software automatically detects such email files and renames them accordingly. In addition to prevent any confusion, a separate folder is used to store these files. You will be notified of it.

Select the PDF radio button and click on Advanced Settings.

Apply the following in General Settings:

  • Naming Convention: Select the naming convention to save the emails with required names accordingly. By default, Subject is the naming convention of the file.
  • Date Filters: You can apply Date Filter to select and export email messages of the specific duration.
  • Mail Status Filter:Use the Mail Status Filter to export either Read, Unread, or Both types of emails based on your preference.
  • Include Internet Message Header: You can select this check box to include Internet Message Header.

STEP 16

Now click on Page Layout to apply layout settings for PDF file format.

  • Margin: You can apply margin settings to maintain proper space in top, bottom, left and right directions.
  • Paper Orientation: You can choose orientation of the PDF file i.e Potrait or Landscape.
  • Page Size: You can select the size of the PDF page.
  • Header and Footer: You can select the text to display in PDF header and footer sections.
  • Font Family: You can select the size, type and color of the fonts.

Next click on Attachment tab to apply settings meant for the Attached files.

  • Attachment on Pin: Choose to add attached files in PDF as Pin.
  • Append Attachment: Convert the attached files in PDF and append them at the end of the email message.
  • Save Attachment: Saves attachments in a separate folder in its original file format.

Now click on Bates Number tab to apply bates numbers on the PDF files.

  • Bates Number Format: Choose which number to start bates numbering from along with the incrementation rate, position and other details.
  • Date Stamp: Choose the position and format of date you want to be shown on all the PDF files.

Click Save button to save all the applied settings.

Now click on Browse button and navigate to the destination location where you want to save the PDF files. Click Ok.

Now, Check the maintain folder heirarchy checkbox to maintain folder structure same as in source MBOX file.

This option will only be visible when you browse multiple MBOX files in the software.
Check "Create single PDF for all MBOX" if you want to merge all the selected MBOX files into one single PDF file. Otherwise, a PDF file will be generated corresponding to each selected MBOX file.

Next, click the Export button to start the conversion process.
