How to Download & Install JDK & JRE on MacOS?

Summary: JRE (Java Runtime Environment) should be installed in your system to run SysTools Mac based software even if you have latest version of JDK available in your system. The latest version like JDK 11, 13 does not provides JRE installers.

If you are getting this error message, while trying to open your downloaded SysTools software, then there is nothing to panic. This error message pops up just because your system does not have JRE installed in it.
Follow the steps below to download and install JRE on your Mac system to overcome this issue.

STEP 1

Visit the link given below and scroll-down to the Mac OS X section from where you can download the file to install Java Runtime Environment on Mac system.

Note:

  • If your Mac machine is running on Intel processors, download macOS x64 (10.7.3 and above).
  • Even If your Mac machine is running on any ARM processor, still you need to install the x64 version of JRE.
This ensures you download the correct version compatible with your Mac architecture.

Click on the highlighted section to download the JRE installation file.

STEP 2

Once downloaded, go to the Downloads folder in your system and open the DMG file.

Click on the installer file to start JRE installation.

Click on the Open button if the prompt appears.

Click on the Install button to start JRE installation on Mac OS.

Enter the password of your Mac system to proceed with installation.

Following that, you will see a JRE installation progress window. Wait until the installation process completes.

An installation successful message will appear once the process completes. Click on the close button and try launching any SysTools Mac based software.

Open your Browser and go to the Oracle website. Go to the link given here:

Scroll down until you see a heading Java SE Development Kit 8u241 followed by a table of JDK 8u241 download options. There click on "Accept License Agreement" radio button.

Note:

  • If your Mac machine is running on Intel processors, download macOS x64 (10.7.3 and above).
  • If your Mac machine is running on M1 chip series, download macOS ARM64 (12 and above).
This ensures you download the correct version compatible with your Mac architecture.

STEP 3

To download the file, you need to login to your Oracle account. Create an account, if you do not have account and provide your login credentials.

Note: If your Organisation policy does not allows to sign-up in Oracle, then you can contact our SysTools Tech- Support via Live Chat Support option in bottom of your screen.

And then you will be asked whether to save the file that is going to be downloaded. Click on Save File.

STEP 4

Now go to Finder >> Open your Downloads Folder (or from the Downloads window of the browser). And double-click on jdk-8u241-macosx-x64.dmg to launch it.

A Finder window will appear, which containing an icon of an open box and with a name JDK 8 Update 241.pkg.

STEP 6

Double-click on the package icon (JDK 8 Update 241.pkg), and follow the instructions to install it.

  • The Introduction window appears, click on Continue.

  • Note: In certain cases, the Destination Select window may appear. If it appears then select Install for all users of this computer to enable Continue button.
  • Then the Installation Type window appears. Click on Install button.

  • Now a new window appears which says "Installer is trying to install new software. Type your password to allow this." Provide your Administrator login and password and click on Install Software.

STEP 9

When the installation process is completed, confirmation windows appears. Click on Close.
