Steps for Exchange to Exchange Migration

Follow step by step guide to Transfer Data from Exchange to Exchange using SysTools Migrator.

Pre-requisites for Exchange

Note: Before starting the migration please make sure about the destination domain name(e.g., @domain.com, @domain.onmicrosoft.com, or hosted domains), as this cannot be changed later, because the software licenses will be consumed and these cannot be revoked afterwards.

Step by Step Guide to Carry Out Migration

STEP 1

Download and Launch the Exchange to Exchange migration tool.

Activate the software by following the activation steps here. Activation Steps

Tool provides the help section for the details about each migration mode. Click on "Help" button to view this section.

To enable advance settings for Concurrent migration (optional). Read more: Advance Settings

Then, you will get this screen where you can select Source & Destination platforms.

STEP 2

Select “Exchange” as the source and destination migration platform.

STEP 3

In the same screen, select the categories from Workload that you want to migrate from Exchange to Exchange.

STEP 4

Apply date filter, if required. After making required changes, click on Next button.

Select the source Exchange Server version:

Enter all the required Exchange Server details:

User Account Must be Impersonated. You can find the steps here: Exchange Impersonation

After filling all the required details click on Validate button.

STEP 6

Once the permission gets validated click on Next button.

In Destination window, enter all the required destination Exchange Server details:

After filling all the required details. Click on Validate button.

STEP 8

Once the permission validation gets successful. Hit the Next button.

On the Users screen, there are several ways in which you can add users from the source Exchange Server that needs to be migrated.

Fetch Users: It will fetch all the users from Source domain.

Import Users: This will import users through CSV.

Download Template: In this option, you will get a sample CSV file in which you can add source and destination users manually.

STEP 10

We are using the fetch user option here. It is showing the number of users fetched from the source.

Select the users from the list that you want to migrate to destination Exchange Server.

STEP 11

Provide the destination email address. Click on Validate to authorize selected user source and destination permission.

STEP 12

After the validation is successfully completed. Click on Start Migration button, it displays the license usage.

Click on start button. It instantly runs the migration process.

Stop Migration

STEP 13

You can check the mailboxes with complete migration under Completed tab.

After completion of migration, click on the Download Report button to generate the migration report.

The tool provides two options for downloading the reports:

Summary Report: The summary report will be a single .csv file containing migration reports of all the selected users for migration.

Detailed Report: Here, you get the option to save the detailed migration report of the mailboxes you want to. Select the mailbox and click on Download button.

Choose the destination location where you want to save the Detailed Report.

STEP 15

Re-Run Migration option is also provided in order to perform the migration again.
