Entourage RGE File : An Introduction

A RGE file is the archive database file of Entourage email client on the Mac machine. It stores all items like mail, local contacts, local calendar events, tasks, and notes. The files are widely used for the data transport purpose because in comparison to other file formats, a RGE file is small in size.

Stepwise Procedure to Extract Entourage RGE on Mac & Windows Platform

STEP 1

Users simply needs to follow below set of instructions for getting RGE file from Entourage :

Open Microsoft Entourage program on your machine and click on File >> Export option

STEP 2

An Export wizard will appear in which you have to select all the items that you want to archive in a RGE file. Once you are done with this, click on Right arrow to continue

STEP 3

If you do not want to delete data from Entourage after exporting then, select No option; else choose Yes and click on Right Arrow

STEP 4

A File saving wizard opens in which you have locate towards the path where file is to be saved. If you want to change the existing RGE file name then, change it and click on Save button

STEP 5

Wait for a while and then, application will show a message wizard. The message states that MS Entourage has finished the data exporting and you can click on Done to close that wizard

STEP 6

Extract MBOX File From Entourage RGE File

Once you are done with retrieving of RGE file from Entourage, you can follow below set of instructions to extract MBOX file from it :

Go towards the location where RGE file is saved on your machine

STEP 7

Right click on the file and choose Show Package Contents option

STEP 8

Now, click on Mail >> On My Computer and then select the listed folder whose MBOX file is required by you

STEP 9

Finally, you will find a file having .mbox, which you can use as per your demand

Suppose you want MBOX file of the sub-folder, created within Inbox then, double-click on the sub-folder to extract its MBOX file.

STEP 10

Export MBOX From Entourage

Launch Entourage application on your PC and select the folder, which is to be saved in MBOX format

STEP 11

Now, simply drag and drop the selected folder on Mac desktop. This will create MBOX folder on Apple machine of the file that was selected in Entourage

STEP 1

Windows operating system users can copy-paste RGE or MBOX file from Mac machine to any external storage device like pen drive. Connect this device with Windows machine and paste it somewhere on the PC. One can open and explore Entourage RGE file on Windows system with help of following steps :

Double click on the folder, which was created after pasting RGE file on Windows PC

STEP 2

Again, double click on the desired folder from current panel. Here, we have clicked on Mail folder

STEP 3

Open the On My Computer folder to proceed further

STEP 4

From the displayed item list, double-click on the folder whose MBOX file is required by you. Suppose here we require MBOX file of Saved Messages folder

STEP 5

At last, you will find the targeted .mbox file from Entourage RGE on Windows PC

Note : If you are looking for MBOX file from user-created subfolder then, you can double-click on the folder of that sub-folder.
