SQLite Database Recovery: Know How it Works!

SQLite database repair tool helps to resolve the corruption issues encountered with Sqlite database files (db3, .Sqlite, etc.) and the procedure has been described here in detail.

STEP 1

Go to Start » SysTools SQLite Recovery Software

Click on the “Add File” button to proceed (To add more than 1 database file, keep using this option to add them)

Here, you will get two options in File Types:

In the SQLite File type, you can add SQLite file with the associated journal file and click Add.

You can also simply add the damaged SQLite file and click Add.

In the Journal File type, you can only add the Journal file and choose the encoding type before clicking on the Add button.

For this guide, we will go with the second and the most common scenario i.e., adding the SQLite database file for recovery.

STEP 4

Browse SQLite Files – From the open window, browse the location where the SQLite files are stored. Select the file and click Open.

Load Sqlite database File – Automatic loading/scanning process of the selected Sqlite file will begin.

The screen will load as follows:

Click on the specific object to preview the items of that object in the software preview panel.

Tabular View: Previews all the tabular data of the object.

Hex View: Previews the hex view of the data.

Deleted: Previews the deleted data of the database.

SQL Editor: Users can execute SQL queries on the database and view the corresponding data (Must select database first).

STEP 8

Once the database files are loaded in the software, head to the Export option at the top to recover them. You have two ways:

First, select all the files to recover them all in one go.

Second, select the objects that you want recover and not all of them.

Once done, click on the Export button at top.

Here, there are various options:

Select the preferred format to save your recovered SQLite database.

Select SQLite database from the list of given options.

Now, click on the Browse button.

Select the location where you want to save your recovered SQLite database.

Wait for the exporting process to complete.

Select Microsoft Access (existing) from the list of given options.

Now, click on the Browse button.

STEP 13

Select the location where you want to save your recovered SQLite database.

STEP 14

Click on the Save button.

STEP 15

Provide Data Type Mapping – Match categories using data type mapping. Confirm the changes made and Click OK.

STEP 16

Wait for the exporting process to complete.

STEP 17

Click on the Ok button.

STEP 18

Your files are successfully exported.

Select Microsoft Access (existing) from the list of given options.

STEP 12

Now, click on the Browse button.

STEP 13

Select the MS Access file in which you want to append your recovered SQLite database.

STEP 14

Click on the Save button.

STEP 15

Provide Data Type Mapping – Match categories using data type mapping. Confirm the changes made and Click OK.

STEP 16

Wait for the exporting process to complete.

STEP 17

Click on the Ok button.

STEP 18

Your files are successfully exported.

Select PDF from the list of given options.

STEP 12

Now, click on the Browse button.

STEP 13

Select the location where you want to save your recovered SQLite database.

STEP 14

Click on the Save button.

Wait for the exporting process to complete.

Click on the Ok button.

Your files are successfully exported.

Select CSV from the list of given options.

Now, click on the Browse button.

Select the location where you want to save your recovered SQLite database.

Click on the Save button.

Wait for the exporting process to complete.

Click on the Ok button.

Your files are successfully exported.

Additional Export Options

The SQLite Database Recovery tool contains additional export options within its interface. Some users may find these options useful.

Option 1

Export Object Properties: You can export the object properties like name and schema into a separate CSV or PDF file. The process is as follows:

Click either on the CSV or PDF option above the Properties section and click on the Browse button.

Select the location where you want to save the Properties file.

Click on the Save button.

Click on OK.

You can view the properties of the selected object in the exported file.

Option 2

Export Data from each tab separately: If you want to recover data (complete or selective) from a specific object, simply select the object and go to the corresponding Tabular tab’s Export option.

Select the records you want to recover and export. You can either select all of them at once or choose them separately.

There are several options provided by the tool to recover SQLite database:

Select the preferred option and click the Export button.

Click on the Browse button.

Select the location where you want to save the Properties file.

Click on the Save button.

Click on OK.

You can view the properties of the selected object in the exported file.

Option 3

Export Hex of Selected Record: This option is available within the tabular tab.

Click on the PDF option above the Hex section and click on the Browse button.

Select the location where you want to save the Properties file.

Click on the Save button.

Click on OK.

You can view the hex view of the selected record in the exported file.

Option 4

Hex tab:

You can also export data from Hex tab. The software provides two different options:

Deleted tab:

If you want to recover ONLY the deleted data then this tab is helpful in that regard.

Option 6

SQL Query tab:

Users can execute SQL queries on the database and view the corresponding data (Must select database first).

Then, choose the preferred Export option from the provided list and click the Export button.

Click on the Browse button.

Select the location where you want to save the file.

Click on the Save button.

Click on OK.

You can view the properties of the selected object in the exported file.
